Experiments in Technology through Art and Design.
Interactive Audio-Visual Arts & Design Exhibition
For one week only Paradigm will transform the Biscuit Factory into an interactive playground of visual arts, interactive installations, and responsive sonic environments.
Using the Arduino microprocessor we were asked to design an object which exhibits the human response characteristics to an input factor, based upon a specific human response to stimuli. Trying not to go for the obvious, we chose the human emotion of Sexual Arousal/Excitement.
Interactive Installation demonstrating how large corporations spend millions of researching the bliss point of their food products to keep people addicted to them.
Materials: Digital Print, Butter, Sugar, and Salt
My Friends Are Electric is an interactive sonic artwork set in the Never ending Glen at Kelburn Garden Party 2015.
Visitors to the Never Ending Glen (an art trail set in the scenic valley of Kelburn on the west coast of Scotland) we encouraged to work collaboratively to create generative music.
The piece consisted of 18 arpeggios ranging from drums to synthesisers. The triggers for these sounds were spread out over a clearance in the valley. The sound were triggered when a connection had been made back to the earth.
Visitors connected the triggers to the ground using their conductive energy. The more points connected to the ground the more interesting the composition became.
Electricity passed through the bodies of the participants from the triggers to the earth, but what was even more surprising was that the electricity also passed through the trees, through the roots to the other trees and also through the mist in the air to create a totally unpredictable result.
It is interesting to see how different people react to awkward social interactions. Touching or holding hands with strangers is not something we like to do, but when we get a feeling of accomplishment we let down our barriers, at least in some cases.
This is just a snippet of the action. A video explaining the installation is currently in the making. I hope you enjoy it.
