Design Sprint

The Design Sprint is a four-day workshop for the most challenging business questions utilising co-design, rapid prototyping, and testing propositions with real users.

Design

Sprint

The Design Sprint is a super engaging process to help teams innovate and test their big ideas with real customers in less than a week.

This fast-paced co-design workshop allows teams to learn from the experts, find the root of the problems and reframe them as challenges, leading to creative solutions that can be prototyped and validated by users.

The workshop is a “greatest hits” of business strategy, innovation, behaviour science, design thinking and more, packaged into a battle-tested process that any team can use.

Working together in a sprint, you can shortcut the endless debate cycles and compress months of time into a single week. Instead of waiting to launch an MVP product to understand if an idea is any good, you’ll get clear data from a realistic prototype.

The sprint gives you a SUPER-POWER: You can fast-forward into the future to see your finished product and customer reactions, before making any expensive commitments.

Here’s what

it looks like

Day 1

Understand the problem space

Ask the experts

The start of the sprint where we interview the subject matter experts on:

  • Challeneges

  • 2 Year Goal

  • Sprint Questions

Experience Map

The Experience Map allows us to focus on key moments of our user's flow through the product/service and helps understand where the biggest challenges lie.

Sprint Target

By now it should be clear where the biggest challenges lie. We pick the part of the process that has the most scope for delivering real value and use this as the launchpad for our creative solutions.

Day 2

Ideate, decide and storyboard solutions

Lightning Demos

Looking for inspiration elsewhere and finding clever solutions to similar problems, everyone gives a 3 min lighting demo or their chosen product.

This is where we go wild! joining the dots and pushing past the obvious.

  1. Take Notes

  2. Join the dots

  3. Crazy 8’s

  4. Solution Sketch

Now it’s time to break it down. What are the steps in the user flow, and how do we test each stage. We bring back the experts to help fill in the details that matter most.

Day 3

Prototype

Prototype.png

Our team of experienced creatives get to work building an interactive prototype that looks and feels like a finished product.

Day 4

Test with Users

Test with Users.png

Time to test our concepts. We bring in 5 Real Users, walk them through the prototype and test our assumptions in the user flow.

Day 5

Present our findings

Now the moment of truth. Did the prototype resonate with users? Did we solve the problem? We’re our assumptions right?

Do we need to tweak our original concept or go back to the drawing board?

It’s important to remember that it’s ok to be wrong. We have just saved ourself months in development shipping the wrong product and we should have a much clearer idea of what users really need.

We’re

Certified

Not only have we been running Design Sprints since 2017, we went away and got ourselves a shiny certificate for the studio wall.

We’ve also devised our own methods for getting the best out of design sprints remotely… Nobody wants to get “Zoomed Out”
